Social Networking Facebook Attracted Buy Air Navigation Waze?

Social networking site Facebook reportedly interested in buying the company stub (startup) Waze Mobile from Israel, which makes social navigation app Waze.

As reported by the Israeli media Globes, Tuesday (08/28/2012), Facebook executives recently met with officials Waze. However, no further information about the outcome of the meeting between the two companies.


Facebook has long been interested in developing business in the mobile device. Facebook diligent forge partnerships with mobile device manufacturers, or acquired mobile app maker.


Reportedly, the total value of the acquisition of Facebook on Waze, reached 67 million U.S. dollars (about USD 640.5 billion).


Waze was founded in 2008 by three programmers that Uri Levine, Ehud Shabtai, and Amir Shinar. Applications that also serves as a GPS already has 20 million users in 45 countries. Waze is available for iOS devices, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, Maemo, and Windows Mobile.


As of December 2011, Waze has a staff of about 80 people. 70 employees based in Israel, and 10 employees in Palo Alto, California.


Waze also partnered with Apple to provide traffic information to the new digital map application in iOS 6.
